Co-Founder/President
Joey Abate
Joey is a Connecticut-based actor, writer, director, and singer. His first run-in with theatre came during third grade in the form of a production of “Honk Jr.” and the rest was history. After exploring more performance training and opportunities with a local theatre group, he attended Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School with a concentration in Theatre.
Once graduated, he moved to Manhattan to attend Marymount Manhattan College where he took up a double concentration in Playwriting and Directing. Though his endgame aspirations place him in the world of film, he knew early-on his first love of theatre would bring him to open his own company. When 2020’s pandemic brought his senior year to an abrupt end, he knew it was time to start planning.
Now, he’s thrilled to be starting his next adventure with Golden Fox Theatre Company and his amazing co-founders Jason and Amelia. Through Golden Fox, Joey hopes to raise the standard of community theatre as well as become a haven for new work production in Connecticut. As of Fall 2024, he is pursuing his masters in Cinematic Production Management at Quinnipiac University.
Favorite credits include Stacee Jaxx (Rock of Ages - Square Foot Theatre); Vice Principal Panch (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee - Co-Op High); Aaron Fox (Curtains - Co-Op High); Pippin (Pippin - Co-Op High); Carl (Ghost the Musical - Square Foot Theatre); Pepper (Mamma Mia - The Arts at Angeloria’s); God of Carnage (Director, The Arts at Angeloria’s); The American Family (Playwright, Marymount Manhattan); Hedwig (Hedwig and the Angry Inch - Co-Op/Square Foot Theatre).
